Yah it takes a good chill to get furs primed up. That is why trapping season up north does not even begin until the middle of NOV and even then some hides are still not ready.

Yes I have, a few coons and a grey fox. Still not quite prime yet, but they're still nice.

Getting better than the past 10-20 years.

Definitely going to hit the coon, grey fox and bobcat beginning this weekend. Wish I was back in Southeast Texas, Golden Triangle area when I trapped quite a few commercial crawfish farms and got into trapping mink - just can't compare the fur on any other species to a mink and their simple to catch in the right habitat.

Just wish the bobcats in the Hill Country, East Texas and Southeast Texas were are pretty and furred as though in the Trans-Pecos and Panhandle regions which fetch quite a bit more money. But I'm pleased on what we get and it still and it keeps the population reduced.

I have been wondering about the market lately. I had heard about some of the guys at the world championship last year had sold some pelts and did pretty good. Another guy here locally said he was basicly rolling the hides up and freezing them, when he gets a good sized package built up he ships to somebody up north thats paying pretty good as well.I have never done it because the market has sucked so bad.

Pelts getting prime isn't cause of the cold weather..look it up its cause of the shorter daylight hours. the coons and otters are good right now in my neck of the woods..Beavers always prime later than most..
