Hello All, I am just curious as to how many other hunters on here like using leveractions to hunt? I myself am a fan of leveractions and am currently hunting with a Marlin 1895 in 45/70, I think it is an awesome hog gun but like the knock down power omn deer as well. So who out there is hunting with a lever gun and what make and caliber is it?

Have a few and hunt with them from time to time. The Marlin 1894 in 357 Mag gets more usage than the 3 others combined, but then it is my favorite truck gun and is out every time I am. Also use a 45-70 sometimes and have used 7-30 Waters, 25-20 and 30-30 over the years.

I've been tossing around the idea of getting me a carbine lever action one of the 16" barreled ones, in 357MAG or 44MAG for hog hunting. With just open sights I think it would be great.

308SDT Marlin with Brockman's ghost ring sights loaded with 160gr LRs is good for hogs, whitetail, and elk. Makes a darn good saddle gun.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Been using an old Marlin 30-30 that my wife's granddaddy let me borrow right before passing away. Anything bigger'n a rabbit that I've ever shot, I shot with this gun.
Boom!

You read my mind. Ive been wanting one in 357 or 44mag. Ive wanted to see what a mean hollow point 44mag, out a long barrel would do. You could should shoot it all day long and never think twice about recoil. Man....that would be the thing to have on a sunny day, picking off gar as they come up to the top. Or better yet, letting a hog catch it right in the face.

I have a Marlin 336 in 30-30, but I haven't killed anything with it yet. I do plan to kill a deer or a hog with it in the next few months.

Marline 30-30. I've taken more with it than the .270, .243, and .223 combined.

Marlin 30AS IN 30-30. Love that little brush gun. If my boys go out to the ranch, I'll just use that and let them use the .270's.

I've got a Marlin 336 in .30-30 that belonged to my great-grandfather. Shot several deer over the years with it. I've mostly put it away these days. I need to get it back out and shoot it more.

I run with a Browning BLR Lightweight Stainless with Pistol Grip in .308 Win.
Last week I topped it with a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40.
