If you're sitting in your stand and you hear a lease member shoot, what do you do? I always get out and head their direction. I get excited and want to go see what they got. I will of course text or call so I don't mess up their hunt but I always end my hunt to go join in their celebration. What do y'all do?

Somebody shoots and we all turn up our two ways and wait for the play by play.

I typically do the same. If its my wife I head out immediately. If its my buddy I wait for a report. We are typically the only 3 on the property and share all the meat and all the work no matter who makes the kill.

I sit in my stand and continue to hunt. The people I hunt with are plenty experienced. If they need a hand they'll call and ask for it.

I'm not meaning getting out to just lend a hand. I guess since its just me my dad and brother I've always gotten just as excited for them as I would if I shot something myself

I keep hunting. I hunt with family and will catch them back at camp or at the gate on the way out. A shot fired may mean somethings coming my way in a few so I like to sit tight.

This^^^ because you never know and I've had a wounded animal cross my opening that was hit by another hunter before and if I had left we more than likely wouldn't have found the deer.
We all are aware that if someone shoots they dial our cell phones or we dial theirs to find out what's up.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

We all text play by play throughout the hunt, so we know what's going on pretty much all the time..

I do not text during first or last light. If it is light out, I will text the members and see if they need help.

Just because they shoot doesn't mean they were shooting at a deer. Might be shooting at a coyote, bobcat, or a hog.

If i had shot and you walked up to my spot, based on your good intentions, i would point you to nearest common sense class and have your stand and feeder by the gate so you could pick it up on your way out. That is dumb dumb dumb. stay at your own stand where people know you are. your idea of help sounds like a good way to get shot.

As a general rule, everyone stays on their stand and continues to hunt. In most cases, everyone waits until late in the morning or evening after others have finished their hunt to ask for assistance. But if only one or two guys are hunting and getting to a hunter doesn't require going past someone else, those who aren't hunting might go to assist a hunter who needs help loading their deer.

I stay in my hunting area. If I hear a shot, if my fellow hunter needs help, he'll call me on the radio or send me a txt.

I would be HOT if someone came over and spooked a deer that was wounded and you forced it deeper into the woods.

Also there has been many times I thought my fellow hunters fired a shot, and when I got to camp, I found out NONE of them fired. It was just the way the sound traveled from the property over.

You stay in your designated area unless you are asked by your fellow hunters to help.

well unfortunately 2 weekends ago I was hunting with another guy I hadn't hunted with before. we had agreed to meet back at the truck at 10am.

I shot a hog at daybreak and a nice doe at 8 am. Heard him shoot at 8:30. At 9am I had 3 doe come out in my sendero straight up wind. After a few minutes they looked a bit nervous and kept looking into the brush to the west ( i was north). I knew there was a buck coming. Then they turned and stared straight at me stomping their feet. I'm thinking how well concealed I am and down wind? What in the world are they looking at? They run off.

Well that idiot I was hunting with a full hour before rendevous time was walking down my sendero to pick me up. He had parked the truck 150 yards away down the sendero opposite the deer. He saw the deer on the other side of my blind. He STILL walked down my sendero because this selfish idiot decided I was done hunting an hour early even with deer in my sendero and not a buck tag filled out.

I will never hunt with this person again if I can help it. Friend of a friend's son with no relation to the landowner so fortunately I wont be compelled to him anyways.
