I took this old deer on opening morning of the Oklahoma gun season. We guessed him at 5.5 years old by tooth wear. My brother has trail camera pictures of him about 4 miles east of this property in early November. Hunting was pretty tough this year as the drought has been hard on all wildlife.

4 miles away ? Wow . It's crazy how during deer season , a lot if the bucks you've seen all summer disappear and a buch of buck you've never seen show up .. But I hunt a lot of river bottoms so that might have a little to do with it . Congrats on your nice buck !
I love hunting ! Got to love it !

Hell of a buck!! Lot of studs coming out of Oklahoma despite the drought

Nice deer, congrats. I Usually am up at Hardesty OK chasing bruisers around but with the drought conditions we decided to let it rest. This is the 2nd year with no fawn crop. Going to take a long time to recover.
Whitetails up in that part of the world are more like mule deer during rut. They cover a lot of country.

Did see a few does with fawns this year but none with twins. The country looks a lot different with no good grass and broom weeds everywhere. There is not a feeder for several miles of the place we hunt but have winter wheat North and South of the 1200 acres. Water is in short supply in the tanks.

Here he is 4 miles away at my brothers bow stand and feeder. This was the closest feeder to the place he was killed.
