First and foremost, talking about critters, not strippers smile

I know this probably should go in the exotic section but thought it may get more traction here. Mods, feel free to move it if need be.

I'm thinking about getting on a deer lease in Coleman county, about 30 miles outside of the city of Coleman It's with a good friend of mine, dirt cheap, 3k acres, 5 total hunters and which 2 or 3 of them rarely go down. It's a pretty nice place with some really good whitetail potenitional. I've been on an exotic kick lately and I was curious if any of the Coleman County hunters on the board are seeing many free range exotics in the area?

Around Voss and Fisk and further south there are getting to be lots of free range exotics. Mostly axis, blackbuck, and fallow. I have seen a few elk running wild and some thompsons gazelle. It seems like there are more exotics every year running loose. I see them in the bar ditches and from the road almost everytime I go South of Valera. The exotics are starting to get a foothold in the north part of the county as well but its still far behind the southern part in numbers as well as species.

I know of a few high fence places around Valera with exotics on them... would stand to reason that a few may have escaped over the years

I've never seen them, but I figure they are out there

We hunted in Valera for 7 years, our county road was right across the street from one of them ranches stated above and we saw exotics several times. It just so happened that everytime we saw them we didn't have a gun, but did I have a camera. I'll see if I can find some pics...

The rain that the area south of you got washed out some of the water gaps on the HF places. We have had a few black bucks and axis over the years, but very few. Now we have sika, axis, fallow and one guy even saw an elk...

I'm right smack dab in the midle of Fisk & Shields Tx and have never seen a exotic. My wife says she saw some deer 2 yrs ago that had spots on them in front of our cabin. Last yr I saw 4 or 5 doe with ear tags by my front gate they looked really bad. Hopefully no one shot them. My farmer lives about 1/2 mile from my place and has never seen a exotic, he has lived there 50yrs.

Yes we have seen blackbuck and axis near talpa and Valera

I have some magic beans if anyone is interested. No extra time hunting but they'll make you fart to the tune of Back In Black...
