Sounds like some strange lease rules. I wonder what Thomas Jefferson and George Washington would have done? A better question... What would Barack have done ?

Rules are rules, doesn't matter if you agree with them or not. If you didn't agree, don't get on the lease. Absolutely!! And if you had shot the deer, all you would have been doing is telling your son that it is okay to break the rules when you want to, and that the only rules to be obeyed are the ones you want to obey. You did well, Dad, you set a great example for your son....I congratulate you!

If there is no bow hunting allowed then why even bring a bow? The no bow rule probably pertains to getting to hunt deer before the rifle hunters. Once rifle season starts, or if you're hog hunting its probably OK. Just my guess.

Agree with the ones that say rules are rules and stay within those rules. That being said, I for one would not be on a lease that doesn't allow youth to hunt. Sounds like those rules are so no one can hunt before the rest of the members and a clarification and possible amendment to those rules might be in order. Or I would find another lease if I had a youngster that wants to hunt.

if its brown it down! lol nice example. I try to set examples for my kids, but by myself? Well that may have been another story.

I would definantly try to revisit the rules of the lease with whoever is in charge of the rules. But good example for your son.
