Absolutely!! And if you had shot the deer, all you would have been doing is telling your son that it is okay to break the rules when you want to, and that the only rules to be obeyed are the ones you want to obey. You did well, Dad, you set a great example for your son....I congratulate you!

The no bow rule probably pertains to getting to hunt deer before the rifle hunters. Once rifle season starts, or if you're hog hunting its probably OK. Just my guess.

Agree with the ones that say rules are rules and stay within those rules. That being said, I for one would not be on a lease that doesn't allow youth to hunt. Sounds like those rules are so no one can hunt before the rest of the members and a clarification and possible amendment to those rules might be in order. Or I would find another lease if I had a youngster that wants to hunt.

I would definantly try to revisit the rules of the lease with whoever is in charge of the rules. But good example for your son.
