This is a boar I killed while walking down to coyote hunt. My dog Pete, ran across him, and brought him to me. I was carrying the AR that day, only loaded with 45 gr. high velocity varmint loads. Not a good round for pork. If he hasn't been after my dog, I wouldn't have shot him. I put 3 rounds in to him, and he never slowed down, just turned and come at me. I had to put several more rounds into him to dispatch him, but finally got the job done

Thank you. Was really an accident. My dog jumped him in some brush, and the boar got after him. Was not at all intending to see pigs that day.

Pete's a mini Aussie, he waded in and grabbed the hog, but soon let go and ran when he realized the hog outweighed him by 5x and WOULD fight. Pete was going home with the boar right on top of him. That's when I squeeze off 3 quick shots. The hog then turned on me and I put 7 more rounds in him. Boar finally laid down and died less than 15 feet from where I stood. Like I said high velocity varmint loads are not meant for 200lb boar at close range lol

Cool story , I can never get so lucky ,

I didn't feel lucky until after I got back to the house. After thinking a little, I realized that normally I only keep 5 rds in the AR. But I went over to Purvis the week before to call coyotes and decided I'd load a full clip. A week earlier and I wouldn't have been so lucky lol

I meant lucky by my dogs would of grab that hog an been happy they didn't have to run him down

Yep, I killed my first pig with 55gr FMJ in my AR with a 10 round mag while coyote hunting. He went down on the 9th shot, I changed to my spare 30 round mag and finished him off when he tried to run off later. Now I coyote/pig hunt with a 30 round magpul loaded full of 223 60 grain partitions. Much better. He did taste good though...

8-10 in rapid succession.
