I read good reviews about Parker Crossbows and really good ones for Wicked Ridge. I was considering buying one for guests, but after holding one in my hand changed my mind. They are heavy.

My brother has a Stryker I've shot and seems like a good bow. He hasn't had any trouble out of it and it was around $500 I think. Fun to shoot I know that.

I've been shooting a Ten Point. Very happy with it. Head to a shop that sells crossbows, they'll likely let you shoot a few. That's what I did and the ten point went home with me when it put three bolts in the same hole (in the bulls eye) at 40 yds. Guy selling them wouldn't let me shoot another bolt unless we pulled the previous one first. Good call. Would have trashed a couple of bolts.

I have a Barnett c5 wildcat and have no complaints other than just a little heavy. Got it at Academy for around $350 I think

Have a Parker Tornado that I really like. Chose it due to lighter weight and compact size when compared to a lot of the others. Advertised velocity of 330fps is spot on according to my chrony.

If you are near a Cabelas go by and shoot some of the ones available on their range. Good way to try out the ones that interest you.

Thanks Bass,

Trust me...I have been looking on craigslist and ebay for a good deal on an Excalibur for a month, it is definitely in the top three i am looking at...the other 2 are Ten Point and Parkers.

Too bad Horton isn't on that list. I have a deal on one that would leave you some cash to spare.

Mine is the Titan HLX. Also have the acudraw system on it as I am unable to draw due to an upper limb issue. Good piece of kit. Thought the noise of the accudraw (it has a ratchet click type noise) would be a problem hunting but not so far.
