I shot this free range axis this week with my bow near Boerne. I had a couple of questions for the experts, outfitters, etc..

1. What are the differences in the scoring systems (SCI, ROE, TGR) and which one is used the most?
2. Is this buck worthy of a wall pedestal mount? He has 32" beams, nice mass and nice (10-11") brows.

A 32 inch axis is a trophy for sure.

He will make a beautiful wall pedestal mount. Congrats on a fine trophy. Baker

Do you think he would make a good mount? Why are you asking what others think? You are the one that took it and will be putting in your home. Who cares what anyone else thinks. By the way, that is a good axis. Would I mount it? No, but I don't mount anything.

Why am I asking?! Well I thought it was obvious but to put it in more simple terms for you, because I wanted some outside opinions (specifically from those who outfit axis hunts and or have ranches with Axis deer on them). Sorry if you feel that is a strange question DON K!

Back to the original post. Who can give me info on the different scoring system mentioned in OP and based on my 2nd question above? I have read a lot of posts here that would lead you to believe that this may not be a trophy class animal.

That's a nice axis. Certainly worthy of a shoulder or pedestal mount.

A lot of axis racks don't have good mass, yours does, plus it has decent length. I would definitely mount it, too my eye, there is no substitute for mass.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

That is an great looking axis. I can't help with the scoring info but that is really a nice looking rack!

Congrat's on the axis, that is a great free range animal. You defintely should get it mounted.

As for the scoring system, the basic difference is going to be how they measure and what the net scores are for Gold-Silver-Bronze. One system will take 3 mass measurements, another will take two, etc.

I'm sure Curtis or someone else can give a more detailed response.

You don't have to get mad. If i was going to mount an animal it would be because I wanted to do it. Not what others thought I should or should not do. I said that was a good axis. I have seen people mount ones that were smaller and I have seen people mount ones that were larger. And if I am correct it was because they wanted it mounted not because some one said they should.

I don't know anything about the scoring, but I know that I mounted one that I shot with very similar stats that I shot with my rifle. If I shot that with my bow I would personally want to have him mounted. Good job!

That is an excellent axis buck

IMO there is no reason to shoot a buck unless your gonna mount it(in addition to culls)

Thank you and I agree. The horns will be displayed regardless. Just debating on spending the cash on a wall pedestal or doing a European myself. I'm leaning toward the wall pedestal.

That is a great buck. A euro mount won't do it justice

I would def do the pedestal mount. Also just so you know Don K is well respected and didn't mean to set you off. No need to get so testy so quick.

pedestal mount for sure. I have one on the wall. It is more impressive to me than any other animal I have.

Nice axis Muley. Very cool and unique with the remaining velvet still on. I have a whitetail like that.

KC congrats on a fine axis. What I like most is that it's a mature deer. By looking at the mass, spread and length, it should make ROE Gold in my opinion. The only weakness that I see are the cottle tines and the inside spread which limits the higher scoring. Either way, it's a trophy. ROE requires 134 inches to make Gold. If I were to guess, you should be in the low to mid 140s .
