Just curious if things like this happen to anyone else? Today is opening day of gun season in Oklahoma and I'm sitting at home. I was getting my gear packed on Thursday to go hunting Friday and weird stuff starts happening. I had to move my rider(mower) out of the shed to get my 4 wheeler to load it in the truck, hop back on the rider to drive it back in the building and it runs out of gas. Had to grab a gas can and head for the store.

Have all of my stuff loaded about 8:30pm and the property owner called and says that his house that I normally stay in is not available this weekend because some family members will be staying there. So I call the nearest motel(18 miles) and they are booked for Fri. & Sat. night. Unload all of my junk, put the 4 wheeler behind the mower and storm into the house mad as heck. Up Friday and off to work. Land owner calls me about 9:30 and says, hey fella no one will be using the house come get the key. Cool, I'll leave work a little early and go get my stuff. Not supposed to get off until 5 but have some help there to allow me to leave.

Helper has to run to Ft. Worth to check a job and says I'll be back by 3 so you can leave. 4:30 and he isn't back yet, call and he doesn't answer. 4:55 and a last minute customer comes in(I always take care of business) so ask how I can be of help to him? Fast forward 1 hour later, customer leaves with a world full of knowledge about his project and $6.39 worth of product(GEEEEZZZZZ). 6:00p.m., 30 minutes home a half our to load up, half hour to go get the key and then 4 hours to get to the lease.

Went home barricaded my self in the house and said to heck with this!!!!!! Some other time maybe but not this weekend. I wanted to be there so bad I was foaming at the mouth but it just wasn't supposed to happen.

If my past luck this year is any indication of how hunting is: you ain't missing much here. Too bad.

I have a crap load of deer coming to the feeders. See my post about Meet the Tank for one of them. I am the only one hunting on 200 acres and it is awesome.

And the real suck part is, that I bought my NR Gun License for $280.00 and the season is only 16 days long. 6 of which are weekends and I just lost one.

Yeah, weird things happen to me, too....like work. I wanted to be in a stand this morning, but that's not where I'm at.

What part of Oklahoma do you hunt? My buddies Dad shot one a couple weeks ago, an 8 pointer, that will score 160. Biggest 8 I have ever seen. He hunts in the southeast area. If I can figure out how to load a pic...

If you push through all the obsticals and go you wont shoot a dang thang. If you sit on the couch you'll miss the monster of a lifetime!

Well, here I go again. Have plans to head to the hunting lease on Friday and leaving at noon after my wife gets off. Yes, she is going also. She seems to be my good luck charm. After all of the mishaps and ills from last week, I need a break and can't wait to get in the blind. So wish me luck and good hunting to all this Thanksgiving week.
