Good question. I hunt just North of there and we used to have a bunch of birds, but they just disappeared about 5 years ago. Any sucesss? Yes. Much success? Probably not.

My property borders the south unit and as mentioned before until about 5 years ago we use to hear gobbles every spring. Since then I might have heard one in the last 5 years.

Interesting i hadn't been out there in around 5years and y'all just pointed out what i was afraid happened and they got hunted out

I honestly don't think they were hunted out. Either fire ants, some virus, drought, varmints or something else greatly reduced their numbers. Between us and our neighbors, we practice good game management, so I don't think it was over hunting. Especially since it's Toms only with shotguns or bows only during the spring season.

I use to have turkeys at my Fannin county place too. Haven't seen a bird in 3 years.

I know where there is or was a smart ole tom on Caddo. He fooled me a few times this past spring. I'm going back to this same spot this spring.
