What happened to the deer. Seen a few opening weekend. Actually seen a buck trailing does. Sat Sunday night and all day today and never seen anything, not even the squirrel who lives above my stand

I'd say just conditions .. Brother killed a buck Sunday morning . Stomach was full of whole acorns and no corn . Patience . I've had to wait until mid to late December for a good buck and also all the green winter grass to eat .. Even might be teamed up with does already . They have been in Ellis county where I hunt .
I love hunting ! Got to love it !

I think this week and weekend will pick up dramatically! Don't just hunt your feeders, but find a spot where you have multiple angles through travel corridors. With the freeze, they will be moving, acorns will start to sour, and the does will start to move. It takes two to Tango!

I've had my spinners turned down to one second....barely enough to feed the coons but just enough for a food source. Eastland county is pretty hard hunting due to pressure, acorns and weather. This week should pick up pretty good IMO. I rarely have any pictures during the day at my feeders. With the couple I days of cold air and the rut, it should be just right.

No critters at all? Sounds to me like you have a black panther problem. Everything gets quiet when they are in town.
I'm near de Leon and got a decent buck last Monday am. Most of the hunters have seen just a few doe and pigs.

I don't know about the black panther but there was supposedly a big cat seen not far from our lease this summer. Could be a factor if it's true

I was out there this past weekend. The deer weren't even using the food plots much. I even watched several deer on the edge of the plot eating acorns and didn't hit the plots till dark. I did see a over mature 8 pointer that I haven't seen all year. He came out after it was to dark to shoot. They weren't chasing like they were a few weeks ago. This cold weather should help
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

My wife says you must be hunting the wrong places. She has dodged bucks on her way to work for the last two mornings. It is beginning to get to her.

Welcome back, Mike. I hear you've still got plenty of turkeys...? It's nice out here today. As far as me getting out early in the morning, I don't know too much about that.

Checked the one camera i have out in eastland counyy this morning. 300+ pics of deer on six days. All but 3 of a little spike were at night. Did see two bicks and doe with doe fawn. Watchef a 15 inch 8pt make a scrape at 9:15 this morning. Real nice two year old. Also pics of 4bucks that have not seen before.
