I understand that it is necessary to get rid of the hogs inside of your high fence, but is it necessary to do it from helicopters the 1st 2 weekends of rifle season?? And on top of that our place is roughly 1 mile from your fence line, why must you fly your helicopter over the north half of OUR PROPERTY??? We work very hard on our place year around and have since the 70's when we purchased it. I know you just bought the place 3 years ago so you may not understand what goes into our place. On 3,000 acres we have 10 food plots, 10 protein feeders and 8 corn feeders. It's bad enough that the wind has been blowing all weekend, but i finally get a 140 inch 10 point buck 40 yards from the stand and then you start with the helicopter.. I know you probably could care less, but this was to be my 10 yr old son's first buck. Bad luck for us as fast as the buck came out and got with in range, you fly over our place like you own it too!!!!! Bad news for you, it does not belong to your a** and never will!!!!!! We watched as you circled atop of us and my son's 1st deer look up and then haul a** out of there... I think i am going to start a new season on our lease HELICOPTER HUNTING..
Rant over thanks guys for letting me get that out still very pissed off.. I am hoping for my son's sake we will spot another mature buck tomorrow.. This deer he has been watching the last 3 years its a 10 point that has a 17 to 19 inch spread and 5 1/2 years old..

That sucks. I've had a few hunts ruined by helicopters.
However, my neighbors implement DMP programs so deer avoid a chopper like the plague. When they fly over his place to the rig off of 57(at a very high altitude I might add) you won't see a deer all day.
Look on the bright side. He might have gotten all his hogs out and you won't have to deal with it anymore
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I hope he killed all of them in the county, it has sounded like WW3 for the last 2 weeks.. The bad thing is my dad ran into the owner in town the other day and asked him about flying all over the place.. He said he could do what ever he wanted and if we wanted to harvest a real deer we need to go on one of his hunts.. He is very arrogant... I do not want to start a HF vs LF debate but we have plenty of mature deer on our LF ranch..

I think you can stop the low flights over your property.

I hate people who do that with the heli's. We have an A@@hole who likes to fly all over West Texas at very low altitudes. I hope he crashes some day.

could find someone to fly over his place, you know just checking it out to see how the hunting is at 7 oclock and 5 oclock time frame.
The purpose of a warrior is not to reason with the enemy but to kill him.

He prob would have a few years ago but he has gotten alot calmer in his older age.. He was marching around like he was still in the Marines ready to go to war this weekend with this guy lol

Call the FAA and turn them in. I think they need an LOA to fly over your land under a certain height.

Will do ranchman thanks for the info.. I would be interested in what information you find out if you call the FAA. We have a neighbor just like you. Actually we have seen him running deer on our place twice.

A picture of the tail numbers and also try and capture trees showing low altitude. A detailed journal will not hurt. Between a FAA complaint and visit from the game warden for harrassing hunters...well, that should make him think but who knows.

I don't think anyone to whom these open letters are directed actually reads them. I think it's because this is a place to vent with your like minded friends. Out of all the responses you get, there are usually always one or two that are actually helpful.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Between a FAA complaint and visit from the game warden for harrassing hunters...well, that should make him think but who knows. I contacted the sheriff's office in search of the game warden twice when it happened at our lease. However I never received a return phone call but the second time I was asked to leave more detailed information. The offender in this case is a well known individual in the area that comes from big money. Next time I will be taking video.

Having done a bunch of helicopter hunts myself I find it disrespectful of your neighbor to do that. If the helicopter pilot doesn’t know the property boundaries then someone who does needs to be up in the air with them at all times.

Contacting the FAA is probably your best bet on this subject. No one has to tolerate low level flying over their property like that.
