Anyone hunt either of these counties? If so, how's the deer movement in your area? Anyone seeing any signs of pre-rut/rut?

I hunt in Jones County and it was pretty slow. I saw a couple bucks but nothing of any size. The two bucks I saw came in to the feeders and did not seem very interested in the does at all. The couple of decent bucks I have on trail cams have been in the middle of the night.

I took the daughter out for youth weekend and the only buck we saw was hot on the tails of two doe. he didn't pay any attention to the feeder just nose down chasing the does. opening day was different though, 2 bucks came in to the feeder before light and the 11 point went down at about 0800.

Same thing is happening with me Toolman. I'm seeing maybe 1-2 deer at most per hunt. I'm up north of Noodle about 5 miles and there's just not any movement right now.

Where in Jones do you hunt?

You have any pics of that 11 point?

I hunted a few miles NE of Sweetwater for a few years. Usually saw the most deer late in the season after a few hard freezes. No acorns on our place at the time, just figured there was less to eat and they were more apt to be hitting the feeders.

Best one so far this year, but I'm hoping the rut will bring the big boys out of the woodwork:

That's a good buck, looks to be young and could produce some serious measurements in another year or two!

Will do. I also need to drop my truck off for the day to get that O2 sensor replaced. Any chance I could take a 2013 F250 as a loaner for the day while they replace it?? laugh
