I was needing some new blinds and decided to build them myself. 4'x6'x7'2" tall inside. Total in both stands together is just under $800. Took at 4+ days to build and paint. *I am not a builder and I hate to paint! I started with treated 2"x6" and built base frame then put 3/4" treated plywood over it for the floor. Built both bases to start. Then cut my frame 2"x4"s. Got it framed and started adding Hardiboard siding. I decided to do my own windows. I bought 30"x60" sheet of .100 clear acrylic and made 10-12"x15" windows. I like vertical slide so I bought some plastic trim to use as window tracking. I added a velcro pull strap and use it to hold windows open. Added a weatherstrip under window to keep out moisture. Added a OSB on top, then a metal roof, caulked all the seems with NP-1 and then painted it. Will decide on what to do on a short tower for one and the other stays a ground stand but will get short legs.

Looks good. Curious on why you put in such narrow windows? Looks like you built it as a defensive fort with pothole windows. You expecting the natives to shoot back?

I hate big or large windows. Shooting width is 10" tall x 14.5" wide. Hunting on the ground you need as much cover between you and the deer to hide your movement. There are 5 windows in the blind. Most guys put in wide or big windows then cover them with paint or camo cloth.

I understand for ground blinds. Do you do the same for tower blinds?

I have if the blind is small like a 4x4 in size. If it is larger I might have more small windows per side or go with larger ones. I have hunted early on from blinds with small windows. I still like them today, just a preference.

Nice builds, they should last for quite a while.
I can appreciate having to work with the Hardi, that's all I've been using for the last five years

stx, did you use any type of pull to raise your windows? In the 7th pic you see the 2" wide velcro I put on as my pull to raise the windows. It acts as a latch to hold them open if needed. They are just tight enough in the tracks to keep them open on their own.

looks good. do deer have good sight? They pick up movement really quick. Being on the ground you have to really watch that and your sillouette.
