Very nasty tasting ones, save your steel shot.
They always get a pass.

There ring necks not scaup, look at the bill, also look at the hens there is no white patch after the bill, There good to fry up maybe inject them with your favorite seasoning first.... if you do decide to shoot them, yes they are hard to clean and make sure you get all the fat off them, second when you cut the breast away let them sit in ice water for a couple of days before you eat...

The closest hen looks to be a scaup but the rest are ringers

Look at the bill, its got a black ring around it... a scaup has a solid bluebill hence the nickname bluebill

Those are all Ringers, no question. They are fun as hell to shoot and will decoy right in...at 100 miles an hour. The one in the middle with the yellow eyes is a drake. They eat just fine. Breast em out and let them soak in ice water overnight. Melt some butter in a bowl, dip them in the butter, then season with salt and black pepper, maybe add some jerk or cajun seasoning, then throw on hot grill for 2-3 minutes on first side and 1-2 on second side. Try that and tell me ringers arent good to eat.
