Some of the hunting places do not have cellphone signal where you'd be able to call 911 or someone in an emergency. If you hunt alone what kind of equipment/gadget to send emergency signal or maybe handheld radio do you carry? My co worker's kin went hunting and accidentally shot his leg with an arrow laying in the ground for along time. Luckily they went after him and just so happened someone saw him went the direction he was hunting.

Have not used one, but in Alaska my friend always has a SPOT radio when he goes moose or caribou hunting. Not exactly sure what it is, but I am pretty sure it works off sattelites (sp?)

1. Always let someone know where you will be, and then stick to that plan. 2. Set a check in time, and a back-up time beyond which triggers someone to come looking for you. 3. Small flashlight. 4. Sharp knife. 5. Clean bandana which makes a good bandage and is useful for lots of other things too. 6. Raincoat/jacket. 7. A cell phone can sometimes send a text when there is not enough signal for a call. 8. Toilet paper - handy for its intended purpose of course, but it also makes a good pad for compression for a bad cut. Wrap and tie the bandana over it. 9. Bottle of water.

Pickle flavored sunflower seeds.
On a less serious note, I can usually scrounge up something to make-do with out of the gear in my truck.
But back to being serious, pickle flavored sunflower seeds are my most important emergency back-up item.

Yeah, seriously, something for fire. Something to cut off a bleeding artery and some water purifier tablets would be a great start. Along with the beer and baling wire

Something I may catch a little hell from but, in Iraq a lot of us carried tampons in our kit. good way to stop the bleeding and plug a gun shot and if its not needed for that it makes great emergency tinder.

And they work great as a scent wick for tinks 69.
Fire starter First aid More water than you expect to drink. Always take an extra bottle. Even if YOUR cell doesn't have service doesn't mean another provider won't. No sprint at my lease but at&t works and that will allow you to call 911.

Snuff TP bandages tourniquet
maxi-pads and tampons work well for bandages. They also have bandages now that are laced with quick clot but it doesn't always get deep into the wound.
Superglue, hydrogen-peroxide, neosporin, iodine is usually kept in camp. Might save a trip to the ER for stitches.

Uh - How 'bout a good first aid kit? They're everywhere now and relatively inexpensive. Keep a large one in the trailer and small ones in trucks. Few bandaids & toilet paper/tampons in the backpack too! Best equipment is "keep your brain switch in the on position" any time you're in the field!

Shoot we got some bandaids and rubbing alchohol at the trailer, if you need more than that you need a hospital in my opinion.
We have running water at camp, cell phones work on 90% of the place and we never go alone.

If you shoot yourself in the leg with an arrow, you should never be allowed to leave your house again. If I shot myself in the leg with an arrow, I would drag myself back to my truck, call my buddies and make up a story that did not involve me shooting myself in the leg with an arrow. This guy does not need any emergency equipment, he needs a brain.
