Im looking at about 2000 acres in the San Angelo area that wasnt leased last year or this year. A good friend of mine owns it. Great area. He is making me a deal of about 1/2 price of regular full year lease for through the end of February.

Just wondering if anyone else has picked anything up this late and had any success.

From why I've been told, lord only knows how much truth there is to it, if you get on one this late, unless there is a fair amount of activity, your wasting your time. I say this because you want a feeder out, and them to know its there consistently. You also dont want I spook em bringing out a blind or a stand in the middle of the season. I'd wait, unless you can/want to ground hunt like we did up in the north.

The measure of a man is not only what he does when people are watching, but what he does when no one is.

the sound of a feeder in those parts draws deer from far away , i wouldnt worry on the feeder being established ....they find food very fast .....as far as a stand goes a pop up camo blind or 2 and you should do well .....in those parts a the world water is key .....i am guessin the property has wells ?
2000 acres for the price of 1000 might be a good deal ....
how much total money are we talkin here ?

It's never too late, If you provide food they will come.

We moved a blind & feeder Friday afternoon put corn in the feeder Friday night in the dark.
Saturday morning killed a pig under it went and dragged it out of the way 1/2 hour later 2 doe showed up.

When I want to move a blind or feeder I do it regardless of what time of year it is, been doing that for 40 years.
Never hurt my hunting for more than a couple days at most.

$3 an acre for now through February. $5 an acre for year round next year.

3 Windmills and each have a small dirt tank next to them. Brushy throughout.

Go for it.

Its better than not hunting at all

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I say grab it. The deer will find the feeders, especially later in the season when natural groceries begin to scarce.

2 years ago I put up a ladder stand a week before Thanksgiving. No feeder or any food. Harvested an 8 point the week after Thanksgiving by grunting it in. If there are deer there I would go for it. It is never too late IMHO.

Deer don't know you're late. Just find a trail. One of my favorite hunts was on the second weekend of the season. I just got permission the week before to hunt. I found a trail at the edge of the woods and sat on a 5 gallon bucket. Pow nice 10 point.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
