There is no right or wrong answer. I'm just wonder how the hunters/managers on THF would class this deer on their lease...

Depends totally on the ranch history and what you're trying to produce.

I voted trophy... Without knowing anything of the property because.

He's old and thats as big as he's gonna get; I have shot some big deer and at this point in my life its about taking the bucks that are mature and lived their life.

I'd rather shoot a 5yo 8pnt(and hes a nice one), than a 3yo 10pnt any day.

Thank ya'll for the responses, and again there are no wrong answers on this one. We all will probably agree that a buck with a 200" rack is a trophy. I'm just wondering what people think of a mature deer with a pretty eight point rack... If a person doesn't want to leave a comment that is ok to, but I would like to hear what you have to say.

In my opinion he is one I would pass on. To a kid or first time hunter hunter he is a trophy.

A nice shooter but dependent on potential of the property and what has historically been seen on it. Looks like a 135-140 to me.

I voted trophy. Mostly due to age and the fact that lots of people hunt long and hard to shoot deer that nice. Most likely though on a big place he would be considered a management deer.

Without knowing anything else about the ranch or management on the ranch it's tough to say.

Average, un-managed ranch I would call him a trophy. On a well managed ranch I'd call him a management deer.

As most have stated...smaller/unmanaged place, it's a trophy. Larger/managed place, a management.

But to me, at either, it's a trophy up I've always been turned on my high, tight racks grin

Damn, now my keyboard is all wet! roflmao

And I voted trophy. That would be the largest rack I had ever shot.

It must be nice to have that option. Maybe some day I will.

He is a mature deer, and that's really what matters. Personally, I'd call him a mgt deer but I've shot 4-5 like him in my lifetime that at the time I considered trophies. However, the first year I ever hunted I saw 8 deer total. In three hunts this weekend, I saw over 40. Times have changed.

Depends on management philosophy for the ranch. He has the age to be harvested. The rest is based on the phiolosophy and the genetics.

Agree ^^^^^....This would be a cull for me just because I believe he appears to be an 8pt...Just depends on ranch preferences

Think you can/Think you can't/Either way you're right
