Ok. Lets assume you have 17 birds on a strap on a branch waiting for the last person to shoot his 6th bird, for a 3 man limit and a warden walks up. Who gets the possession ticket? The person standing closest to them? There's no law saying they can't be on a strap together, only possession laws from what people are argueing. There's no way that would hold up, just cause one person is closer to the birds

A lot of times that Scaup that you just shot to finish your limit turns out to be a Redhead hen and now you have 9 Redheads floating on the pond when the GW shows up.

Now what? wink

Are they in your possession if you don't pick them up? hmmmm...

Has anyone found a law that says you have to have your birds seperated yet? Just wondering.

Obviously I am not typing this to where yall understand. I was asking a question and for help finding the law, as I was not able to find it. I got everything in the world but that. I am not saying it is legal or illegal. I'll seek the answer elsewhere.

Why don't you call a federal warden and ask him

Cause I'd rather see here its written. Then take someone's word. Cops don't know all the laws. Books do.

WAL, maybe if you answer this question you will understand what I am saying.......

Why do some cops give a ticket for 3 mph over the limit while another cop will not give you a ticket until you are 11 mph over the limit?

Is there a law in the books that states specifically that one cop will allow you 10 mph over while another has almost zero tolerance? wink

Same with GW. One will not say a word while another will write you up.

PS. WAL, do you show up in the Grocery Store "10 Items or Less" checkout area with 40 items and 4 people and tell them its OK since its still 10 items per person? grin Just kidding with you.

He can prolly tell you where the law is at instead of you sitting here arguing about it. Look you pile em and Ill keep em separated. I would personally rather be safe than sorry and I dont want to mess with a ticket or any of my clients getting one

Can I pile them up of I book a hunt with you? bolt

I'm just sayin, I'm with Wal on this. I thinks it's a myth, unless someone can did it. I actually spent 3 in productive hours at work looking for it. I looked on many federal websites. My goal was to show it to Wal. I failed. I couldn't find it.

We are all with WAL on this. There is no specific statement.

However, some GW will ticket you based on their interpretation of possessing no more than 6 ducks per person. While others will not say a word.

Its a chance you have a choice to take.

You cant have a pile of birds. Your birds must be separate from other birds in your hunting party. The reason is simple. If you shoot your six birds your done. If others in your party cannot shoot and run out of shells, time, or flight, then they are done at four. You cannot shoot their birds for them. Its just the way it was meant to be. It is law. All you duck dynasty lovers who just bought a shotgun, waders and 15 calls need to get this in your head quick.

Q

After reading this thread and seeing what they have to deal with, I can understand why.

Common knowledge they WILL check your license, check for plug, steel shot and check your birds.

Ok. Got it. Thanks. Now can you show where the law says your birds must be seperated?

How is it party hunting just cause I put your bird next to mine? I shot mine, you shot yours. I stop when I kill 6, you stop when you kill 6. That's the law, and we are abiding by it. Doesn't matter where the birds are thrown.
