I was at Cabelas this morning with no intentions of buying a gun, but have been considering a deer rifle for my 10 year old son. I was looking through the used guns and found a Remington 700 ADL .243 full size (not youth). It was marked at $269. The guy helping seemed to be excited that it was for my 10 year old son who was with me. So, he said let me see if we can come down on this. He came back and said they would take $230. It has no scope and looks to be brand new. Was manufactured in 2006. I thought this was a steal. Am I missing something or was this a great deal or what?

Have you seen anything "Of Quality" at that price elsewhere? I think I would Pull The Trigger on that one before someone else does...

Order a set of talley lw's and find a scope

I have a used Leupold 2-7 scope, and can get a Leupold base and rings to you for $275.

Sounds like a steal if you catch my drift..

Picked up a brand new Nikon 3-9x40 BDC scope today of off Craigslist for $100. Now just need to get rings and my son's new rifle will be ready to go. This rifle is going to be nicer than my own rifle...something is wrong with that...

What's the story with the Talley LWs? I'm not familiar with them. I was just going to pick up a cheap set of Redfield rings and base.

Id use some rings a little nicer than Redfield. Leupold Rifleman cheapos work pretty well for me on 22s and low recoil guns.

They are the bees knees. They are a 2 piece set. Front and back, aluminum 1 piece construction. They are durable, light, rock solid and super easy to mount. The price is usually on par or slightly better than leupold/redfield base and rings. They are really good ring. That being said there's nothing wrong with the leupold/redfield bases and rings.

Talley Lightwieght Alloy's are truly the best for hunting rifles.

Easy to install, perfect zero retention, very strong, you just can't beat them.

That is a steal the action alone is worth $350-$450. I would have bought it at just that!!!

Thanks for the advice on the Talley's. I had a BassPro gift card and unfortunately they didn't have the Talley mount and rings. So I went with a DNZ set. I have heard good things about DNZ. Got it mounted and took it to the range. It's a sweet little set up.
