I want one but hunting with ear plugs doesn't bother me all that much.
Plus when I shoot deer at my west Tx place (Menard), I kid you not, there have been times I will drop a deer and the others run off about 25 yards and stop. They hang around looking confused, trying figure out what just happened. Could shoot another one if I really wanted to.
This doesn't happen in my north Tx place. Weird

Why? Do you miss alot and need second and third chances at your deer? For a suppressor to truly work, you have to use sub sonic ammo, which under adverse conditions IE cold weather, wind, etc... can be much less reliable than standard ammo, not to mention that even under perfect conditions, your range is greatly decreased over standard ammo and non suppressed guns. I can see using suppressed guns at dusk and dark while hog hunting, varmit hunting, etc.... but deer hunting during legal shooting hours? To each his own.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Huh? What was that? That's what my old hunting grandpa would say. I'm probably going to lose enoug of my hearing naturaly. I just don't want to speed it up.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

To each his own. I think suppresors will be awesome for hogs, or if you have to shoot 112 does on an MLD, but for the average hunter it's just one more toy to spend more money on.

I find if funny that people think that suppressors are totally silent. Yes, sub sonics sound like a pellet gun, but the bullet drop and kinetic energy at 100 yards is insain. (.223) I wouldn't shoot a deer with subsonics unless it was within bow range. But that is just me

Ft Hood has banned them for hunting....I think it should be the hunter's right to use one or not personally. I don't own one, nor will I probably ever, but it is pathetic that Ft Hood Wont even allow them to be hunted with!!

Ignorance and wild fantasy. How about this vid? Some deer are just stupid. Was his gun not loud enough? He might have been cheating...

I'm a left ear plug only person when rifle or shotgun shooting as that is the ear closest and pointed towards the noisy end of things. That said I can see that there are reasons to use them such as hog or varmint hunting and when needing to shoot several animals in any situation but for the most part I don't see it as any kind of advantage for hunting. I won't be investing in one myself.
