I won't be in Texas for opening weekend. My daughter has a youth hunt at Washita NWR in Oklahoma.

first Straight mature buck--wifes up to bat You going to shoot her buck this year too? The simple answer: Yes Not unless his vocabulary has shrunk. "Just give him one more year" is the norm when she hunting. Little different this year she has super hormones... She can kill anything she wants this weekend... Hell I don't care if it 2.5

Anybody been in Houston County past week or so. Seems like the only time I see any mature bucks on our cameras is during the middle of the day or past shooting hours. Anyone seen any different activity since start of the rut.
All Animals have their place....Right next to the Taters and Corn...

I havnt shot a Buck in 5 years..does yes..if I cant take a Buck bigger than my best ever..I let em walk and maybe someone else can have the thrill of downing a large Buck..they cant get big if they cant grow..good luck fellows and thank GOD every time you are able to be out doing what we all love..enjoy!!

I've seen a couple nice 10 pointers on my game camera, but also some does, and plenty of hogs. Hoping the hogs stay away and the 10 pointers come out. But if I see hogs, I will shoot.

Hoping my son can connect with one of several cull bucks I regularly have on the cameras and there's a couple good management 8's that I'd have a hard time passing on if one shows up!

I will make my "choice" on the stand. I've killed a 7 pt and a small 10 (MS), and want a trophy of course. From trail cams there are a couple I would shoot...5.5 or 6.5 YO 9 pt, but short brow times. Not a trophy, but nicer than any I've shot, and it needs to be taken from the heard. Also a nice "atypical" that my friend the ranchowner said is a shooter, but I haven't seen it yet. We have pics of nice 2.5-3.5 YO 8, 10, 11 pt, but I'll let them walk...trophy in another year or two. Plan to take a doe or two as well. Got three days, so if I'm lucky, a mature buck sat, then a cull or a doe sun, then get the bow out for Monday. Getting harder to sleep its so close... :-)
