I need to take a hunter education course in order to get my hunting license. Does anyone know if I can take it online through TPWD and just attend a local field day?

Yes you can. My wife did. Don't remember if it was directly through TPWD or third party.

If you can find the time, I would suggest asking around for an interesting teacher and sitting in class. I took my class a long time ago in another area and really learned a lot of non mandated stuff. Either way, good luck!

There are 3 ways to take the course, traditional 2 day, online or homestudy with one day .

There is also the one year deferral if needed and have not done it already.

I took my online test on the TPW web site and printed out the results. Took my field day class at Denton county sports [censored]. They have night classes just about every night. The web site is straight forward and to the point, instructors where really good. If you go to the Texas parks and wildlife web site you can find a list for just the field day classes.

Have you ever bought the hunters ed deferral? If not you can buy it for $10. You'll have to hunt with someone who has it or is excempt from it though.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
