No bow or gun - armed with a HD camera. Dress rehearsal for next weekend. Very cool, no wind. Two 8's showed up early, 1 young - one mature. The mature one I'd fairly nice, but I know there's bigger out here.

Another 8 showed up with a really nice 10. I'd have to consider this 10 on opening day. No does yet.

The 10 is getting busy making scrapes. Way cool. Going to get some video. Another nice deer is skirting the edge in the brush. He looks pretty nice, but is very cautious. Hope he shows himself. Still no does.

Three pigs came through and spooked off the deer. The hidden buck is circling around behind me.

A pretty nice 8 just blew through on a mission.

Still haven't seen a doe. But that one back in the brush is making a lot of noise, snorting and thrashing trees. Can see him, but I can see the brush moving pretty wildly. Making scrape maybe?

It is SO cool sitting here. Can't wait til next week.

Holy cr-p on a cracker! I picked up the antlers and rattled a little bit and that buck in the brush came RUNNING out and ran right up to my quad pod, busted me, and ran off. No chance for photo. He was pretty!!

That was exciting!!

9:30 and still movement going on.
Still no does.

I was only going to sit until 10am, but going to extend a bit. Having too much fun.

Rattle again. There is a great chance he will come back. I have had it happen.

Rattled again and gave a few grunts. Nada. The way he took out I bet he's all the way to Bronte by now. He ran up do close I could have spit on him from the quad pod.

Ok I had a lease a couple of years north of hiway about half way between Robert Lee and Bronte and it was pretty good

Awesome photos John. Sounds like you had a great weekend out there. I wish I could spend more time doing what you did, but its tough from 700+ miles away! November 3 I'll be down at my friend's ranch just about 5 miles south of you as the crow flies. Got my eye on a mature 9 point that was hanging out at one of our stands a few weeks ago.
