the gato in maverick isn't bad, although that isn't really cattle country.

I delivered a bunch of equipment to a guy who hunted on the greenbranch......was unreal. looked like you were on another planet.

I was down in that area when they cleared it and then overseeded it. They pushed all the deer onto the Donnell and Cameron for the most part.

these guys that hunt there shoot some hellacious deer. Don't know where they hide or what they eat, but there there.

I put up a stand on a hill, a coyote couldn't hide in that country. Some of it had some brush, but it was the minority.

I hear the quail hunting is good though

Evening was definitely better. Nothing real mature but did see an 11 and 13 point. Both 4.5ish and looked very similar. Tall main frame tens with split brows and kickers. 13 was high 150s and 11 looked to be low to mid 160s. Saw several young 8s and a handful of does. Had two decent boars come out and finally decided to take one and waited for a broadside shot and somehow missed at 130 yards. Oh we'll maybe ill redeem myself in the morning. Will be in a different blind tomorrow called center road which is usually covered in pigs.

Started the morning with a hot cup of coffee and hit the stand around 6:30. As soon as it got light enough to see feeder I had about 15 pigs already there. I knew we were supposed to fly out by 10am so I went ahead and chose the biggest and settled my crosshairs. Shot him with my wife's browning a bolt 243 and he went maybe 20 feet. Didn't weigh him but I'm guessing around 220. Shortly after I headed in and loaded up and took off. We were low on fuel so had to stop at the airport in cotulla which was full of hunters flying back to Louisiana. After we fueled and got back in the air, tommy asked me to hold the steering stick while he lit a cig and I looked at him like he was insane. He reassured me it wasn't all bad and held his side while I attempted my hand at flying. After a few min he just let go and it was all me. Talk about a rush and my wife was about to faint of fear but I managed to do pretty good and controlled it for about 20 min unassisted. Never in a million years would I have that I could or would ever get the chance to fly a helicopter but will have to admit it might of been the start to a new passion.

Very cool.
What kind of helicopter and what is the air speed?

I have a 425 mile trip to my ranch, and there is the Junction airport only 10 miles south of me. It sure would make things nicer than 6 - 7 hours in the car. My nearly 5 year old twins normally are great travelers, but it is tough on the little ones.

I can dream...

We used to fly from Dallas to our Del Rio deer lease we made a runway right behind the cabin. Turned a 6 hour drive into 2 hour flight

Not 100% sure of the model but I do know it was a bell. We flew at around 85-95 knots from dripping springs to Encinal and it took 1 hour and 45 min.
