Here are some pics we pulled from the cameras last week. We are in San Saba county. Pretty proud of the deer we are starting to see. My parents bought the place 5 years and we have been working hard with little to show, but we are now starting to see the fruits of our labor. I have a few questions for you guys. Also just to kind of help with thoughts we are only on 68 acres. Thanks Oh yeah....dates and times are wrong, they are current.

I am horrible at aging. Trying to learn. Is this guy mature?

Can you tell any age on this guy?

Will this guy get any wider? Should I get him out of the herd? Would be a cool mount.

Do you think this one will get any height?

and just one more I am proud of.

Thanks. Sorry about the size. Photobucket wasn't cooperating.

Looks like you guys are doing a pretty good job. Its hard to hold deer on smaller tracts most of the time. I thought the first two looked to be mature bucks, but if stx says the pics are too small to judge, i certainly have no place to be guessing ages, lol, he is the resident deer expert on the THF!!!

I think they are younger deer just let them continue to grow and either way next year hopefully they will be around and you'll be able to judge more but I do think they are younger deer

As others have said, pretty hard to tell from your pics. I would also say that those deer look fairly young. If your neighbors have a like minded management plan in place, I might let them grow.

The deer in the 3rd pic if different from the others looks like he needs to go if you don't have AR's in place. He would be my shooter based on what I see there. Pretty nice group coming in!

I agree with shock_n_awe. I too hunt in San Saba. Our place was the same way. I see your feeding protein. We did that and did not shoot a mature buck for the first 6 years. It was tough, but we went from seeing scrub bucks to a 160" 12 point. Stick with it. Since there are no AR's you can thin the herd a lil easier. The key for you is hoping that your neighboors are management minded like yourself. Good Luck

the first deer looks to be the oldest one in your herd, maybe 3.5-4.5. all the rest are very young and, with 2-3 more years, could turn into some absolute beauties. Let them grow another year or two and you'll be one happy hunter!
