We've got some young dogs to train, and need some coons to buy. They need to be alive. Also needs to be within a reasonable distance of Bonham. Pm or call me and we can work out a price.
Thanks!

Thanks! From TP&W: person who possesses a hunting license may take and possess a fur-bearing animal, provided the furbearer (or any part thereof) is not to be sold.

There is a limit on the distance that they can be replaced to. That's why I said a reasonable distance from Bonham. And if anybody that traps any type of animal and plans on selling it either for the hide or any other reason is supposed to have a license for that, rather than just needing a hunting license. So I don't understand what you are trying to say by that, because I'm not the one doing the selling.
But thanks for the info!

A guy I hunt with has been doing the same thing I'm trying to do for a long time and that's what he told me, because I thought the same thing you all are thinking. I may be wrong, and if I am I apologize. But I'm bout to go hunt here in a little bit, so right now I do not have the time to do any research for info. I'll try and get to it tomorrow.

Sounds like you work off of word of mouth, since you are not going to provide factual info I put in a email to TP&W and see if they will help me with the law. Thanks Anyway.

Here's the reply, nothing has changed that I see. This thread is going to be locked to protect our members maybe going something illegal.
Thank you for your inquiry about the legality of trapping and selling a raccoon. The statute specifically prohibits a person from trapping and selling a furbearing animal (raccoon). Only a person possessing a valid Texas Trapper’s license may trap a furbearing animal for the purpose of selling the hide during trapping season, but not a live animal. For more information you may look on page 77 of the 2012-2013 Hunting Guide or review the Fur-bearing Animal Digest, available online.
• Live furbearing animals may be sold only by a licensed furbearing animal propagator, and only sold to persons authorized by permit issued by the department or to another licensed furbear ing animal propagator.
It is a Class C misdemeanor to transport or sell live foxes, coyotes and raccoons from, to, or within this state. For additional information, please contact the Zoonosis Control Division of the Texas Department of Health at (512) 4587255.
Thank you,
