Just a thought - Should a pigeon owner be cited for animal cruelty for flying pigeons during dove season?

I killed a banded pigeon a few weeks ago myself. I went through all the info to find where it had come from and it ended up coming from an independent pigeon breeder an hour east of me. Flew the coop I guess.

I killed a banded pigeon a few weeks ago myself. I went through all the info to find where it had come from and it ended up coming from an independent pigeon breeder an hour east of me. Flew the coop I guess. If i located the owner i imagine id piss some ole boy off for shoot his prize pigeon

Shot one exactly like it 3 years ago in Fannin county.
I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

Maybe ill offer it back to him Invite the owner over for a dove dinner and let him pick the biggest piece… After the meal hand him the band. I'm sure he will understand.

Its completely legal to kill pigeons. The owner needs to be aware of releasing their pet pigeon into the wild. Specially during dove season.

A lot of the racers turn loose around here to Kerrville..JM at the Gun Club raises them also..and sometimes they don't come back. They are killed or fly off with other flocks, ect..JM tries and charges if someone kills one while shooting Skeet..and
over the yrs. the price increased, even though he doesn't race them anymore..DD
