Looking at a lease without power but it does have power poles running through the property. I called the local power company and they said they would drop a line to a meter up to 50' from any pole with a transformer box for free. I have some calls in to some local electricians about installing a pole for meter and breakers for RVs and general 120v plugs. Anyone about how to expect to pay? I have a pretty good electrical knowledge (built several barns and run electrical from main line and installed breaker boxes and wiring), would it be cheaper to do it myself? I know the meters are pretty pricey...

Do it yourself! Just get the meter specs from the company and everything else is easy. No telling what an electrician would charge. Not to mention if you are in a remote area I have noticed worker's don't come easy if your not a local yourself.

The RV hook up we had done a couple of years ago. A new barn was put in with electrical. A guy came in and put the plug in for 450.00. I think we got raped, then again Im not a electrician. The 450 was just for the RV plug.

I did a pole, weatherhead, meter base and breaker box a couple of years ago. Finding a pole and getting it to the lease can be a challenge but the electric company may have some they will let you have. You will need at least a 16' pole with 4' in the ground and 12' above. The biggest cost is the wire but very easy to do. We spent about $750.00 for concrete, meter base, breaker box, breakers, some plugs, wire, weather head, and auger to dig hole.

Get the meter specs from the provider. My pole had to be 16ft total above the ground and burried 4ft. They are all different. I think $750 is a good DIY price.

$450 for a plug is rape! I am no electrician but I will work for those kind of rates. I might need to become an electrician.

I've got an electrical company here in Fort Worth. Call your provider about the meter, most providers make you buy their meters. But a basic T-pole should work, that's what we use at our place. Hope the pics help. PM me if you have any questions.

If you are close to fort worth I could sell you one of our poles already set up. Should be able to get it the way you want and save you some money.
