Never saw it happen, but did find a nice 8 on my old lease that was taken down by yotes. Ate some of the ham....... not enough to warrant killing unless they were coming back the next night
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

That's really surprising to me because:
a. A yote or 2 yotes could not take me down; and b. I guess I could take a small buck down, but I sure wouldn't want to try.
How do you know that deer wasn't lame? Vid doesn't show enough.

Does not surprise me. I watched a 5X5 bull elk being chased by five yotes. His tongue was hanging out and getting ready to give up the chase when he passed me. Did not see the kill but he was half way there when they ran past me. Im sure it happened.

If you don't think this can happen to a healthy buck you have been filled full of anti trapping bs!!' It happens everyday. A coyote is s cold blooded killer. I see it everyday in my job. If you notice the one from behind catching him and starting at the back, that's how they do it. They pull the guts out and eat them alive. I have 2 openings for predator control left for the spring and summer of 2013. Any questions just message me here or on predator-solutions on fb or predator-solutions.com

Ok so maybe this is rare....but coyotes killing fawns is not rare. So therefore, they kill deer - which is my job. So is protecting deer, I am the judge, jury, and executioner on coyotes. So far, they have all been given the death sentence.

This is not rare. It happens everyday we just don't see it. Every now and again it's caught on camera and then it's omg!!! 5 coyotes per 1000 acers that eat 1 fawn each for 10 weeks is 50 deer. Now if I was on your lease and killed 50 deer I probly wouldn't be liked very much.

that is crazy..... I was hiking in to elk camp one time without my gun in the Pecos Wilderness NM back in 2004 and had an encounter with either a huge coyote or a wolf... he was trailing me.....I turned around and he was on my trail headed my way... he froze when i turned around and pointed his long tail straight up in the air... pretty sure it was a wolf... long legs like a wolf... I was praying and the Lord pressed upon my heart to start singing praise songs as loud as I could and the wolf/coyote took off and never came back.

If a 170bc buck walked out of the woods at the same time as a coyote did the yote dies first! Had a pack kill and eat my blue heeler a few years back and all i found was a foot and some fur. All yotes die if i can get a shot at em.

Not sure where that number came from, but there are a lot of places where there aren't even 50 total deer including adults on 1000 acres. Yotes aren't killing 50 fawns per every 1000 acres. I guess if they get hungry they go after bigger game like bucks, but I've seen plenty of yotes running in outright fear for their lives from angry bucks. Are coyotes not going after pigs/piglets? I'd think that'd be the obvious game of choice for them.

Yes they do die of natural causes. The range conditions dictate how many they will get and how many will survive. In bad times the doe will walk off and leave a fawn(s) so she is not starved down and can be healthy enough to breed that fall season.

I know they get some/many but if they got those numbers there woudl be no deer on our property.

This can and will happen dozens of times all year round on all of our leases. I suggest, yote control to all of you. I was with my buddy one time and he had his Australian shephard with us while we were going to fill feeders. We got out and finished our job when we start hearing yelping! We both look at each other and say, where is Lucy (his dog)? we take off towards the yelping! We get down on the bottom of the draw and Lucy has this yote by the neck commencing an A$$ whoopin on this yote! Every time that yote would get up and run a few yards, the fight was on!! She commenced to dragging this yote up and down that draw before we could catch them and get that yote out of her grip. I know this story doesnt say a whole lot about the video you posted, but I thought it was pretty cool to see the old cow dog get on it!

Did they not read my post? If you have 5 and they eat 1 a week for the 10 weeks that fawns are the most vulnerable that's 50 fawns. I be willing to bet they eat more than once a week. That's government talk saying they don't hurt your deer. The study that USDA done to prove they didn't eat fawns was done in January. There is fawns in January!!! They lie to us bout everything ealse why do uou think they tell the truth bout a coyote? Thinking they don't hurt your deer is like finding out your kid is on crack and telling him its ok. Food for thought

Food for thought No one said they don't eat fawns, but the don't live just off the deer population either. Yote control will improve a fawn crop, but even if you were able to kill every yote, you still won't have a 100% fawn survival rate. I'm surprised those 2 yotes were able to take down that deer. I've personally watch a momma doe flat run over a yote and give him a good stomping, sent hair flying. Your numbers are crazy, most 1000 acre tracks don't have 50 deer that live exclusively on that 1000acres- food for thought.

Food for thought I know we have more than 5 coyotes on our place, I have seen more than 5 at a time. If they were successfull at eating that many fawns or grown deer we would have a negative deer population. If they could eat whatever they want, then maybe those figures would be accurate, but they have to catch them! For every successfull yote kill there are many many failures, and I bet momma doe can a a seriously mean BIT** when a yote tries to eat her fawn!

That doe probably wasn't chased down and tired. I'd bet that that buck was and that was his "last stand" before getting fully exhausted.
