I didn't see any signs of it on trail cam pics from clay county. Bucks still grouped, and the does and bucks all together in a big kumbya thing...

I am curious to see what others in the area are seeing, it seems at least a
Month away at my lease...

It's beginning in Freestone county. I saw 7 different bucks walk thru my yard Saturday morning checking the does hanging around the feeder and yard. 2 of the bucks were running 1 doe really hard.

For what it's worth there are typically 3 ruts or cycles each fall. The first cycle happens and is largely missed, the second cycle is 28 days later and the third cycle is 28 days after the second. If you have a high doe population then you will have does not getting bred and bucks that are killing themselves chasing all of the doe. I know at my place in North Texas we typically see the first rut between the 15 th of October and the 31st. So let's say it happens and ends on the 20th. The second rut will start around the 17th of November. Does will begin estrus at different times and lots of factors go into this.

I have heard of the mythical second rut, and now you're throwing a third rut in there??

J/K, I know that deer are just like every other animal and they want to propagate the species, if it means they hit multiple estrus cycles until they are successfully bred then so be it...the question remains though:
Will a dominant older doe suppress a younger doe in the near local area and time their cycles together similar to what mice do?

I haven't seen any bucks chasing does around yet, but they have started locking horns with each other and fighting. Also doing that crazy buck thing where they run around in big circles for no apparent reason.

I've seen the bucks running as early as the 2nd weekend in Oct around Robertson County.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
