Registered: 05/29/07 Posts: 989 Loc: mesquite, texas I am looking for any suggestions you might have for public land hog hunting for myself and some friends coming in from Kansas. They will be here from the 19th through the 25th of October. I told them to bring bows, shotgun and rifle depending on where we might be hunting. I recently fished the FLW EverStart on Lake O the Pines and the shorelines North of Hwy 155 are tore up from hogs. I know there are 4500 acres of Corp land that is available. Just not sure how to approach it. I would think the hogs are on the acorns that are dropping right now. Thanks in advance.

Look into the APH for Old Sabine bottom just north of Lindale,Tx. They have plenty of hogs and those guys would be glad to put you on some. There is plenty of hard wood bottoms there. Its about one hour east of you and just north of town. Not sure of the dates its open this year cause I don't have a current book.

far from you, but any of the corps property around wrightpatman or lake o the pines. also the White Oak WMA (is APH also )... but your boys from kansas will need Texas hunting licenses ($315 for non resident) so I'm not sure it will be worth it especially including the drive.

If you are hunting hogs (exotics), a non-resident can get a "non-resident special hunting" license for $132 that is good for all exotics, game birds (except turkeys) squirrel and alligator (Not deer). You can get a "non-resident 5 day special hunting" license for $48 that is good for the same animals. See page 29 of the outdoor annual.

Bring a boat and hunt the islands north of 155 on LOP, the banks are torn up because they are full of hogs. Not too many people after them either. It is COE property and good hunting.
They need the $48 license.
White Oak WMA also has a bunch of hogs but it is a huge area.

Thanks guys, I think we will be taking a run at Lake O the Pines. From the tracks and wallows that I saw while fishing N of HWY 155 I am sure we can get some harvested. I will also look up White Oak WMA as well.
Thanks Again for your help.

Right around Denton creek, which is just N of roanoke, has good sized hogs. You need a permit but I've seen a few beasts taken form the bottoms out there.
Man if I knew what Oxner knows I could throw away what I know
