Little guy will remember that hunt forever!
That deer looks like the stags or cactus bucks we shoot around Llano. Those are always bucks with under-developed junk, though not does. Good eating!

I don't understand why the warden told him to use a buck tag. It seems to me that the fact the deer was FEMALE over rides the presence of antlers. Congrats to the little guy for an unusual deer.

Heard about that here around town, Im in Southern Jasper County, Im 5 miles from the Newton County line. Congrats to the the young hunter, I bet dad was just as excited or maybe a little more.

Not so fast there boys The TPWD hunting guide clearly states that a buck deer has a HARDENED antler protruding through the skin. ALL OTHER DEER ARE ANTLERLESS. Those horns don't look hardened to me.
