Guys last night has to be the most fun that myself and Jared have had in a long time. We have always said that our best footage at the end of the season usually comes primarily from those spur of the moment trips that get planned at the last second and this one is the best example we have to date. This short but extremely productive hunt on a work night will forever be etched in our minds and will undoubtably be hard to beat from a video perspective in the length of time and number of stands that were made.

Our first stand (10:30 pm) resulted in this wise old female coming in to pose for the camera at 50 yards. Her teeth were very worn and made us feel good about getting her killed to let a few younger and dumber ones take her place. The old female is the toughest coyote to kill in most cases.

After the old bitch set the pace for the night, the action never stopped until we had to quit at 1:30 am seeing we both had to be at work that morning by 7 am!

Stand two produced these two. First one tried to take a ride (alive) in the truck with us until we finally got him to stop at around 15 yards.

The second coyote had a warning shot fired at him to keep him from getting as close as the first one did, but Jared didn't let me down with an unbelievable running shot as he was getting out of the area.

After laying down some exceptional footage in just two stands, I decided I wanted to take a crack at a few and let Jared run the camera. It was at this point we decided there was only enough time for a few more stands so we headed to an area we thought we could call up a cat. My words to Jared while pulling into the stand was "I know there has to be a cat somewhere close". Five minutes later this cat was in back of the truck.

Jared, I am not sorry for shooting all the bobcats!

A few stands and a few coyotes later, we headed to what was going to "for sure" be our last call for the night "this time" lol. It began with the old female and ended with an even older and more furred up one.


The overall total for the night was 7 Coyotes and a Cat in less than 3 hours of calling on a spur of the moment outing on a monday night. Killing 8 animals in that short of a time frame is tough enough, but to have each one of them pose for the camera 8 times in a row like we experienced is a fete we may have a hard time topping.


Sage herself putting in a little hunting/retrieval time. This is going to be one of the best Carnivore episodes we have ever shot and we can't believe it was all done on a work night in 3 hours. Season 3 here we come!

Boys, you guys just keep turning out great hunts and excellent night footage. It is rare to have a night when everything comes together like that but you sure enjoy it when it happens.

That's your basic once in a lifetime hunt right there. Love Carnivore. I think it is the best made predator hunting show on TV. Shows the misses as well as the hits. Nobody hits everything every time. Kudos.
