I just put a homeade gravity feeder at my buddies land last Sunday, and hunted it this morning. After I got down and checked it there was lots of corn left, and even a little bit of it on the groud that I dropped beside the feeder. The other piles I made were gone, but there were still some pieces of corn left over from last week. I didn't see any deer during my sit, so I went and got my truck so I could cut down some branches and put up cameras and sure enough once I drove it back down the road 100 yards from my stand a nice 8 point shoots out from the left side of the woods (Road down the middle, hunting right side). He was very healthy looking, and then a few minutes later 4 does ran towards me before got spooked by my truck from the same side. They also looked very healthy and fat.
Do you think these deer haven't found my corn and something else is eating it, or do they just have to much food somewhere else and aren't interested in my corn yet. My buddy who just bought the land this spring said he hasn't actually seen any deer except once, a doe, on this 80 acre section, just a few tracks. So it obviously sounds like there is not a lot of them, as I only saw one track near both ponds on the land.
So is there anything I can do to get them to come around? I threw some corn out in the area I saw the deer, hoping they would look for more. Any help, or do I just need to wait until the run out of food?
This is East of Oklahoma city about 1.5 hours.

My son said that the acorns are starting to drop back home in Central Missouri & our feeders are not getting hit as hard either. Also alot of farmers are getting what little is left of their crops out of the fields lately.

I'm guessing that with all the rain they have a buffet of things to eat. Same at my place not coming to the feeders as often. As the weather comes in and starts putting the plants to sleep for the winter. They'll be back.

Our deer were hitting feeders good until the acorns started to fall. Since feeder activity has slowed but i have been catching them on some known trails, find oaks with acorns on the ground and you will find the deer i bet!

We have too many pecans and acorns on the ground for them to hit the feeder right now.

answer has already been said...acorns...they are dropping heavy here....only way you can halfway beat it is dump a whole bag or two of corn on the ground in a pile...it has to be worth their time to come eat it rather than eat a few bites of corn and then still have to go find acorns

I would definitely say its the acorns. Like said above move toward the oaks until the acorns rot or provide them something besides corn. Good Hunting

Most deer will walk past a pile of corn if there are acorns are falling.

Acorns are cutting into my protein bill. That is a good thing!
