I need every duck hunters experiences and knowledges and I thank you now for the help.

So if you have a pond does it mean you have the chance to have ducks pass by or stop over during their migration or all through duck season.? Or it depends on their programmed path of migration, so no matter how big your pond or plenty decoys you have it wont matter if its not in the path? Will duck calls help?

If you have a pond that ducks naturally want to come to then you have a chance at them that way. If you have a pond that ducks fly by then you can throw decoys and call at them and have a shot that way. No matter what if you aren't in the flyway then your chances are very slim.

OMG, this is the best slumber party ever!

The best looking pond, prettiest spread and greatest calling wont get you any ducks if they arent around.

Yes, there are definite "preffered paths" for migrating birds.
Major creeks and rivers, even highways serve as migration corridors.

That being said, you'd be hard pressed to find a pond in Texas that doesnt get visited by some ducks sometime during the season.
If you have a pond 100 miles either side of a line from Lubbock to Rock Port, you will get some ducks at sometime.

You can help youself out the most by providing migrating birds a reason to stay . . FOOD!!

Yes, duck calls will help as long as you keep it in your pocket.

It all depends upon how much corn you apply to the pond. Usually 800-1000 pounds per 1/2 acre is a good start. If you are not in the flyway, then it may take them longer to find and get used to coming.

Hunting just after dark with a good light is the most effective way to pick out the fattest greenheads.

Good luck.

If you have food and water ducks will be there. As for when and how long that's up in the air.
