Started showing up at one of my deer feeders about 3 weeks ago. Been hittin it almost every night and hangs out there for 1-3 hours. I was in my bow stand there on Monday afternoon - sat till just after sunset (Oklahoma shooting rules), and he came in 2 hours later. Just my luck.

Any guesses on how much he weighs? I'm thinking 300.

I about crapped in my pants while goin through the trail cam pics this weekend. Boom! There he was. This is one spot I never would have expected pigs, but looks like he's a loner. I adjusted the feeder timer to go off earlier in the afternoon, and run longer in the AM. Hopefully this will get him competing with the deer and come out earlier. Also dug a hole with sour corn about a hundred yards deeper into the woods, and set another camera back there. Maybe he'll get comfortable enough at one of those spots and I can get him before he runs off all the deer.

He's every bit as big as one I killed a couple of years ago, and he weighed 250 lbs...and regardless of what everyone says, he'll eat just fine. You just gotta bleed him out on ice/water for about 4 days!!!

Thanks for the advice - heard about the ice thing a few months ago. I've actually had some bad meat come from smaller pigs, so good to know. I'd been taking them to the processor next day - will definitely try it.

I shot a 250 in December that sure looked a lot smaller than this guy. Hopefully I'll get the chance to hang him on the scale very soon!

three 4 inch diameter pieces of pvc pipe on bottom of ice chest, to keep meat above melted ice. keep ice on top 4 days. Melting ice bleeds out meat. Been doing that for a while works great.

Won't be able to get back up there till next weekend. Hopefully between now and then, he'll have a chance to settle into a daylight/dusk routine (Oklahoma hunting regs). If not, I'll leave a copy of the rules there so he can read it.

I thought about that, but I still want the deer coming in during late afternoon/evening like they are now. I'll reevaluate it next time I go up though and see if anything has changed.

And as far as eating him, he will taste fine unless he's been eating pine cones! I have only shot 2 pigs around that size and they made great sausage as well as chops and everything else. I have never had a bad tasting wild pig. But I always take care of them from the shot to the table or freezer.

The 250-pound pig I shot in December smelled bad, so we fed him to the yotes. Hopefully this one will be fine (assuming I can get him).
