is that a housing development behind him? Heck, it would pretty much have to be. What immediately came to my mind, just the shape of the buildings, is hangers at Hooks Airport.

Caldwell and Guadalupe Counties don't have large deer herds but they do have some quality deer here and there.
Gonzales Co. has some areas with really good deer. They also have some open regions that have few deer. A buddy of mine has a few hundred acres off of the Guadalupe River and he's had some real bruisers over the years. It helps that he's surrounded by unhunted ranches that are owned by Nolan Ryan.
DeWitt Co. has a few deer here and there. I drive through there every weekend through the summer, headed to Port A. I normally see deer on the north side of town.
Years ago I hunted out of the town of Shiro (Walker Co. I think). Didn't see one single solitary deer all season. Don't know if it's still the same.

Limestone is pretty mediocre at best. A few spots around the lake and river are decent, but overall county wide I would never pay for a lease there.

0 deer in fisher county, it's not worth anyone's time. Too much cotton, not enough habitat, nothing to see here move along.

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

There's deer, and I'm pretty sure there's an open season. Just very little access

Brazoria is totally loaded now. Definitely not on this list.
Harris is a good one. Can't really think of anywhere to hunt. Fayette used to be nothing but sparcely populated with teeny deer, but ARs have vastly improved it, so I don't think it's on the list anymore. That is because Brazoria was one of the first counties to go AR back around 02.

Bexar county was the home of some monster B & C class bucks and still is in very small pockets of some neighborhoods. Urban sprawl has pretty much wiped them out but there are some in the very southernmost part of the county, and up near Camp Bullis to the north that still hold some huntable populations. A few years back in one of those neighborhoods to the north someone shot a non typical that at that time was like #4 in the state, and if I'm not mistaken the head now hangs in the suburb city council building of Hill Country Village. A family member has a 172 B&C he took a few years back in southern Bexar County near the Atascosa county line.

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I live in this area, and there are a lot of above average bucks in this area, however, most of these deer are subdivision residents. Not many decent sized, working ranches up here anymore. The urban sprawl has forced ground up here to go from being priced by the acre, to being priced by the square foot. You'll play hell finding a deer outside of Camp Bullis in Bexar County in about another 10 years.

Gonzales is good, for the most part. Dewitt I believe is hit or miss with a lot of farmland, but also some decent spots.
I'd submit Austin County is on this list. Got a property in Austin County. Used to be loaded with big deer. Havent hunted it that hard lately but just havent seen the big ones walking around like I used to. Could be I just need to be in the stand more.

Every county will have their pockets that hold good deer some just more than others... galveston co is pretty much flood plain and was always thought not to be able to hold big deer...but i got a buddy down there that sees giant deer every year...even though they are all at the airport haha

Harris Co has some pretty dang big deer if you can find them. There's some studs that live out at the airport. SE Harris County has big deer here and there. Around Ellington Field, Armond Bayou Nature Center area and on site at NASA has some huge deer... Actually hunting them is another matter. I don't know where it would be legal. I live in Harris Co and have hunted a few tracts out here. There are some absolute brutes out here. Seeing them on the 26 acre or 10 acre tracts I hunt is another story. lol.
