Went to the lease on Friday....got 7 inches of rain that night. Was horribly sloppy and could not get to my blind due to impassable creek. Cleared up Saturday afternoon with beautiful skies. Due to washouts and impassable creek I only had access to about 500 acres of the 2500 acre lease. Fed the roads/senderos Saturday eve and shot a couple of small hogs (~100 lbs each)before sun down. Had some dinner and went out again about 930. Really just getting used to using the D740. This thing is awesome, was a partly cloudy night with a full moon. Our electric golf cart is very quiet and the full moon allowed us to drive without artificial light (we call it stealth mode). We would drive to the end of a fed sendero and scan with the NV scope to check for Hogs. Could easily ID animals at 800 yds with the full moon (did I mention the D740 is awesome?). The Sow below was on a tank dam at about 200 yds when my son spotted her. we eased up to within 120 yds and when she turned broadside he smacked her with a 165 SGK. Walked up and put a couple of subsonic .22s into the brain for good measure. Had to go back to camp and get the trailer because we could not lift her onto the golf cart. Biggest hog we have taken to date. Weighed 220 by our scale.

Must be nice to have $4K to drop on Gen3 night optics! I'm jealous! Sold a crossbow, over/under, and a blind ti fund the purchase....hated to see them go but no regrets at all after my first 10 minutes with the D740.
