For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Of course it would turn into a HF, your broke, your rich, your jealous debate bang

If it is real...holy smokes

Problem is I can make one like it, or even better, in a matter of minutes.

LOL....I don't know why anyone would think it's fake. I've seen photos of dozens of stags this size from New Zealand. One reason this stag looks SOOOOO big is because the hunter is sitting pretty far behind the rack.

agree with Eland Slayer on the photo.
the stag looks real, but the ridiculous way people sit 5 ft behind the animal makes me laugh. i am all for making the animal look its best by using the right angle, etc..
after all, we want to remember the moment as best as we can.
but geez.... he is so far back he may not even be touching the animal anymore...

no knock on the animal or the hunter. i would agree that its probably behind a high fence and was allowed to fully mature.
but the hunter's smile seems pretty genuine and that is what its all about.

Stuff my dad said in the deer blind

"I can dive deeper and come up drier"
"did you do that?"

All I see is a really big red deer. As for where it was taken and how, who knows.

I see no reason why this would be fake. Looks like a big NZ red stag to me. I have seen many this size (Super Gold Medal) come from there. Yes, they are HF. And, in many cases they are put-and-take. NZ has a large venison ranching operation. Hinds get eaten and big stags go to the managed hunting ranches.

Not my cup of tea personally, but more power to those who go. Certainly an impressive animal. Hunter was positioned in the picture to maximize the appearance of the animal. Little bit of a goofy pose, but very common.
