Are you talking about a shotgun? Is "instinctive shooting" an official term or something? I didn't know what you meant, so I googled and this came to the top, is this what you are talking about?

JMO, any pro basically teaches that, and really it is all about 1) a good mount, 2) shooting with both eyes open and not looking at the gun, and 3) practice.

If you need a good pro in DFW area let me know.

This is really good, but it's easier to show than it is to tell.

Yes this is what i am talking about. I have heard the man that patented this type of shooting could teach someone in less than 4 hours.

It was Lucky Mcdaniels who taught it to me. I'd say a couple of hours. Here you go;

Lucky is the man I heard about. Hoping someone that learned from him is still teaching his style.

Bill that is were I first read about it but I think my son would do better with an instructor. I am grateful that you answered the other post so people like myself could find out about instinctive shooting and my son and myself can't wait to learn how to do it.

If he hasn't retired.. then you should take one of Leon Measures classes while he's still doing them. He invented the "look where you shoot" instictive method. Did wonders for my wing shooting. Leon's a great guy and has a very high success rate with his students. He comes to Elm Fork a couple times a year. If he's not traveling anymore it's worth a pilgramage to Austin to take a class at his local range.

And don't scoff when he breaks out old Daisy BB gun's to begin the class. They are a great teaching tool.

I took Leon's class this past summer. It was great and he is a great guy. I also coach lessons. Just remember sometimes instinctive shooting isn't always best. There's time when you have to "consciously" shoot. Knowing how to do that is harder. Let the instincts come. They will kick in when need be. When they don't. Know how to consciously shoot

Took my son for some shooting lessons with Jamie out at elm fork and man what a difference 1 hr. can make. My son is now hitting 20 out of 25 and that is a huge improvement. Going for another lesson next Sunday. If you or a child are having some trouble Jamie is the answer. Just thought I would pass this info. to anybody who is thinking about some help.
