Chris and Myself recently made a trip to New Mexico to pick up my new decoy dog Sage! Tony Tebbe is known for raising some incredible dogs, and Sage is no exception! She is a semi-started dog that still needs some work(Gun training and collar training), but on Sunday afternoon she ended our September with a big bang! We decided to go out for a few calls just to get her reintroduced to hunting coyotes. My tritronics collar hasn't come in the mail yet, so i was a little nervous how she would react when and if an opportunity presented itself. On the second stand of the day we had a hard charging, actually hard jumping coyote come barreling in on us(the grass is still REALLY tall in the particular field we were hunting, but we were on a hill so we had the ground). Sage and the coyote spotted each other at the same time, about 20 yards from where we were sitting with the camera rolling. I could not have asked any dog to do a better job than what Sage did on this coyote. She would chase until the coyote hit the treeline, and without skipping a beat Sage would return to the call and bury her nose in it. As the coyote continued to return his aggression grew and so did Sage's!!! She had this coyote worked up to a level beyond words. Sage worked this coyote for about 10 minutes before Chris and I could get a clear shot with both the rifle and camera to make for the best footage possible, but as a team with a fast advancing rookie member I could not be more proud.

It was a little different for Chris to have to try and film using a decoy dog and attempting to get the coyote and Sage in the same frame at once, and this is about the best close up that we have. Between the tight brush and new style of filming he did the best job anyone could have.

This is my Sage, the newest member of our team, with her first trophy with Myself and Chris!

It's not how you fall, It's how you get up.

Guys, this decoy dog action is incredible! I am very new to this, but have some seasoned mentors that are helping me learn the ropes! I hope that she continues to improve so I will have years ahead of me of stands like this one from yesterday! Thanks again,

Jared

You have any video of it? I was telling my wife about decoy dogs Sunday when I went on a stand and was wanting to show her some video. They are very cool to watch in action!
