How mucsh will it effect deer movement? Last year the deer didnt move alot because we went when it rained. Same thing Tomorrow. Do you think it will effect them that much?

First, it's Saturday, not tomorrow. Don't start early, the game warden will frown on it. And they are predicting hard rain. It will not be helpful. But when it stops, you need to be on stand.

Won't effect me. I'll be piled up in my comfy bed.

When I use to have a lease in a river bottom it was super thick in there and the deer moved a lot while it was raining, the more open area seem to have more movement right after the hard rain quits!

they might stay in cover if it hard rain/high winds but if it is a nice cool steady rain I could see them moving about like its a vacation from warmer temps into the cooler fall months

Being in the woods in the rain is better than being in the city in the rain any day. Make the most of it; there are many lessons to learn while hunting some are learned with seeing any game. For me I find that hogs move around more and like the mud and since I like to hog hunt as much as I like to deer hunt; it makes no difference to me. I had to pass up hunting this week end where there are lots of hogs that need killing; but it wasn’t the rain that kept me away. I just have to get over this bad cold that turned into pneumonia but you can bet the bank if things go right I’ll be in the stand next week end come rain or sunshine. Just go and enjoy yourself, and like someone else said, be in the stand when the rain stops, two years ago I harvested two does and a buck right after a hard rain in a few hours.
Good luck little Bro.

This forecast is working out for me.

I have to work tomorrow and won't be able to be in the field until Sunday morning.

I hunt public land, so maybe a heavy rain will keep the fair-day sportsmen on the couch watching college football. laugh

I'm looking forward to the cooler temps this cold front will bring in.

I didn't see that remark as classless, lighthearted poke maybe. My .02 cents.

Sit in the stand normal times at 3FB and hope it passes over, when the rain stops those animals will for sure be at the feeder. If it stops when your at camp ask Ben or Ryan to take you out and let yall sit for a bit, you will for sure have a chance to kill a doe this weekend but making the shot is up to yall.

Killed my best WT yet and my last Turkey Gobbler both in the pouring rain. Like said above, the animals will move at all hours on an overcast rainy day. Stay in the stand and see what happens.

You gonna shoot at a deer? What you pulling now, 17lbs?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Gotta take care of that business. I almost screwed up my family when the kids were babies with too much hunting and fishing. Staying home when you should means you have your priorities right. Congrats on the kid. God bless and good luck.

While your in the stand waiting for the hard rain to stop go ahead and whack the pigs that will take advantage of the deer not showing for their candy. Pigs dont seem to care about the rain which will also covers your scent better to hide from smart pigs.
Good luck to all you opening day hunters I'll be out there next weekend

Man I can't remember how many opening days I have spent where its so hot and I wished it would have rained to cool things off. Rain this early is great. It will knock all those acorns down and make them sour instead of having them keep falling every day for the next month. As soon as the rain stops I would be out at our place near the oak trees on the creek bed set up and prepared to sit at least until noon. But...I'm at home watching kids at the house this weekend because they both wanted to have friends over to spend the night and mom is working. When Monday gets around...I will be out there.
