My mom was bittin by a small cooper head snake earlier today. She was on the front porch cleaning up.When she walked by a box or something there on the porch she felt a sting and thought it was a wasp. She looked down and picked her foot up and about a 6 inch cooper head was dangling off her foot. She had to "scrap it off with her other flip flop".She screamed out to my dad and he killed the snake and rushed her to the hospital. It's about 15 min away doin the speed limit. So I imagine he made it in about 6-8 min.
The doctor said they couldn't give her any thing to treat it until it had a chance to react. So they watched her for about 2 hours and sent her on her way since it wasn't swelling or getting worse.Luckily the snake was too small or something but it seems as if she will be Ok.Thank god!

Our dog got bit this evening not a big deal but it happened about 15 feet from my 13 month old! Didn't kill it but it was about a 2 or 3 foot cooperhead. It was the biggest I had ever seen. This was in Anderson co.

A roadrunner killed a copperhead in the area of my backyard where I have been building a deck. He beat the snakes head all to pieces and left it coiled up on my front porch. I was about to pop it with the 9mm when I noticed that the head looked pretty beat up. My wife later told me about seeing the roadrunner wrestling with the snake. I think I'll put the snake boots on to clear the rest of the trees and brush and to clean up the deck construction scraps.

Glad mom is doing well.

In the spring I can walk to our dock on lake livingston and pop a water moccasin just about every saturday. They coil up on the steps to get sun.

I've stepped down at least three times in the past four years forgetting to look and have almost put by bare feet on a few of the bastards. Now I always go with the .410

even when i've killed or seen one or two in one day i still get the chills. that right there would have me on sedation and medication for night terrors. that is too many damn snake's in one place. is that the staging area. because when they do the show's they never have that many in the arena.

another thing how do they post that job opening.

wanted- due to an opening on are team we are currently seeking a replacement for are warehouse manager. must be quick with hands, have a sharp eye, keen sense of you surroundings, and not be alergic to certain medications such as anti-venom. pay is industry average, plus many perks such as free chaps and beer. if interested please send us your resume and next of kin.

Most of the time... those handlers are from various professional "snake handler" groups that volunteer their service for the Sweetwater Jaycees and for the Roundup.....!

But...cibolo.... I did like the "job description"!

thanks, that's why i put the beer and chaps in there. some of my dad's buddy's did that for fun and i believe were some of the origional guy's back in the 70's (or atleast they called themselves rattle snake wranglers) i have some picture's,i'll see if i can find them. they were just nuts,my mom called them the crazy bunch. they didn't let's say set the bar for safety. but still i don't ever remember hearing of any of them getting bit or realizing they were bit is a better way to put it. their equipment consisted of shop rags, diesel, jack daniels, and someone with enough jack daniel's in him to stick his hand in the hole wrapped in a rag soaked with diesel. at my young age back then they were like a south texas version of evil kenivel.

my friend and I were seighning for crawfish and he got bit by a water mocconson right on the head of his little peter. He layed down and I rushed to town and told the doc my friends got snakebit. Well the doctor told me to take my knife and make a cut on the bite and suck the poison out. Hum. I drove back to my friend and he said, "what did the doctor say".......I paused and then told him " he said you're a dead sum bitch
