Lake X says I can hunt the surface of the lake and within 100 feet of the water's edge. I'm assuming if you're hunting on land you would have to own the land? Or can I hunt on the bank?

If its private land do not go on the bank....some lakes will have designated walk in or bank hunting areas...but are mostly the ones that have parks around it instead of private lake houses/landowners

I'd advise just to stay on navigable water. It's just easier to avoid a mess that way.

Depends on who manages the lake you're looking to hunt. Best to get a map from the controlling authority.

COE lakes usually own the land bordering the water, so you'd be able to be "on" the bank.

If its an SRA lake, MOST of the land is privately owned and you wouldn't be able to get on the bank. Obviously there are some exceptions because one of the SRA lakes has WMAs bordering small parts of it and the SRA owns a few small parts.

Same holds true for the other lake down 175. Don't go "on" the bank because it is private property.

Ive seen several lakes witht he same thing. I look at it as long as my feet are wet im OK. Besides Ive never seen a duck land 100 feet up the bank

I did. Last year. Mallards were fling up into some Oaks picking up Acorns then back out to the lake for a Drink.

Ive seen them land next to the bank and walk up the shote line but never fly 100 feet up the bank and the land but I can see since the water was so low last year they didnt have a choice but to fly to the trees to feed.

That means:
1. You can hunt the surface of the lake
2. You can be within 100 feet of the shore (on the water is implied unless they add shore somewhere.)

It does not say you can be on the shore. Maybe you left some words out that add the shoreline.

That also does not address the distance you have to be from a building, occupied residence, boat ramp, or park which are probably additional restrictions on where you can hunt.

You better call the lake office and ask some questions.

It is designed to keep hunters 100 feet from the shoreline. Meaning there should be 100 feet of water between you and the shoreline, not 100 feet of land between you and the shoreline.

Yep, That's the common way I've seen it.

Sorry I haven't been online in a few days. Thanks for the info. I assume most of the shoreline is privately owned although there are large sections that are the appropriate distance from dwellings, roads, etc...I have a boat for access and some of the shoreline is WMA, so I'll probably play it safe and go that route.
