Hey guys need a little advice. I have a dove hunt this weekend in Bridgeport, TX. The forecast for this weekend is overcast with a chance of rain. how will this affect bird movement?

Most likely will fly ealier in the evening. Hopefully before legal time ends. Would be in the field a bit earlier in the afternoon than usual.

I have only hunted rain for dove a few times and neither hunt was good. I'm not mad at Dove really these days so I won't even bother dove hunting really at all during teal season anyway. I think the rain kind of makes them sit around and not move...but again I'm not the expert on this so take it with a grain of salt.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

Dove hunting can be great in the rain.

If you can catch them in between the rains, they still have to feed, look for grit and so on. Some of our best dove hunts has been after rain.

They should fly all day in wet overcast days. That's been my experience. Good luck.

Birds don't chew food, they have a special organ that grinds up their food. They have to "eat" small rocks (grit) to aid the process.

Pretty much. The best year we had at our place was the first year after we dug our pond. The pond had water in it by dove season and the area all around it was gravel and dirt. They would fly from the field behind us and stop off for some water grit. Some didn't make it out
