All I have are open tripods for bowhunting. Wondering if I need to invest in a popup and brush it in good Saturday afternoon when I get there. Never hunted in a pop up. How will deer react to it if its set up during season?

Having a popup for bad weather is great idea! Set it up in good area and if weather will be passing soon get in it and when weather breaks action could get exciting!Great for those cold mornings with wind also, you can talk yourself into hunting easier from ground in cold weather easier than convincing yourself the air is place to be! Game will get used to them with proper brushing in! You can take folks along to watch from them!

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

No way to tell how deer are going to act. Judging by my game camera pictures, deer at our place shyed away form my feeder for a few days after I set it out.

I would recommend toughing it out in the tripod if it's possible.

I have several spots at feeders I could really brush it in and maybe be ok, I might to try and find a spot on a trail if its too much rain to sit thru on a tripod tho so I don't mess a feeder up,, I don't think the rain is supposed to hang around long.

Don't worry to much about brushing in, they will get use to it.

Will you melt?

Just kidding. I would probably invest in some raingear at this point. I personally don't want to change anything around my setup on opening weekend. Deer will recognize changes in their environment, not matter how subtle they are.

I agree; I sure wouldn't put up a pop up this soon.

Thanks for all the input guys. If I do end up hunting from a popup it wont be from a feeder I mainly plan on hunting. We have 3 feeders and I will be the only one all week. Never hunted in raingear, guess I need to try and shoot the bow with it on just in case. Hopefully the bowshop will get my peep installed today and I can find out. Now just got to worry bout getting stuck in the mud if it rains a lot on our place. Good thing from what I saw the rain was coming Thursday and Friday . Had a chance after that but not as much.

TBH, I picked up a rain suit t Cabelas a couple of years ago, super thin, quite and balls up into a tinny, tiny drawstring bag. I've hunted in it several times over the years. It cost me a little shy of $150, but can't remember if that was regular price or sale price.

Good Luck in whatever you choose.

I like being OUTDOORS when hunting, I think you should stick to your tripods and enjoy being outside.

If u get raingear make sure and rub the fabric together to see how loud it is. I have a jacket that will spook everything in the county if I draw back while wearing it so I wear it rifle hunting. I would set up a popup though at the end of your hunt so u will have it next time.

Get camo netting from Academy.Fast blind and use local vegatation to build canopy and not obvious like popup! Have done this south of Midland where tripods stick out and trees don't exist and have taken deer!

Don't think that would stop him from getting wet though...
