I am not going to die on a hill defending Remington and saying they are the best, because they are not. But, if the other "B's" were that much better, they would be charging a lot more for them (more than $2k) and more people would buy them.

Had a buddy buy a brand new 1187 during season 2 years ago because his Mossburg was jamming. His 1187 wouldn't eject either. He ended up selling it a few weeks later when he got his Mossburg back. I absolutely love my old 1100 but I cleaned it quite a bit and dirty didn't explain his ejection problem...

I shoot a 1996 11-87 premier LC and have never had a problem with it. Granted that's only 2 seasons and about 1000 rounds, but its never let me down. I would likely not buy a newer 11-87 if I were in the market today. They're just not the same gun.

I shoot an 887 and back it up with my old 870. Love them both.

hard to diagnose without having it in my hands,
but with 1187's my first thoughts are:
dirty,
dry,
cheap ammo,
dirty,
dry,
gas ring,
dirty,
dry............
