Nice deer. Not really, we get pictures of deer all the time that never get seen other than on the cams, and only get seen once on the cams etc. Some folks dont like them, I think it is alot of fun, helps me know whats out there and and gives me somethign to do and look forward to in the off season. matt
It's hell eatin em live

It has its pros and cons. Dont get me wrong, i run a few and enjoy rushing to the computer to see whats on it, but on the flip side, i like not knowing what may walk out..
Now, during the rut, different story.

Nice deer. I took mine down for that very reason I love having a camera. im gona hunt anyway but like to know which blind to hunt I like to hunt deer, not pull hits on them If you have a camera at a lot of the blinds like we did, it takes a lot of Suprise outta the deal. We haven't run one camera in 3 years. I will use them at a protein feeder, however. We don't hunt over those and are used to check the amount of deer eating protein

Not trying to discourage anyone from using one. They are a great management tool and scouting aide. If you only get a few chances to hunt they can certainly help narrow down stand selection
I just opt not to use them anymore over corn feeders

Not trying to start a HF/LF debate (I love HF places for the record), but having a smaller HF place would probably put a big damper on the excitement of game cams. Not sure there's anyway they could possibly not accidentally walk in front of it at some point.
Like others have stated, I get pictures of deer all the dang time that I have never seen and never see again. Especially during the rut.

If I saw half the deer I see on my camera in person, my lease dues would be so high I couldn't afford it.

Like others have stated, I get pictures of deer all the dang time that I have never seen and never see again. Especially during the rut. new deer show up all the time on hf places, even smaller ones. I sold a 160 acre tract that we only one picture of a buck. several were killed that never had any pics of them. not all deer will go to a protein feeder or corn feeder. that being said, i would venture a guess to say that 95% of deer will eventually be seen on a game cam at some point or another if your vigilant about it and have cams set up all over the ranch. even the two that we had took alot of the suspense outta it when the same 5 deer would show up like clockwork just like the cameral showed if you hunted those blinds
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I get that, but isn't your place like 300 acres? Just saying that even if they're not hitting feeders, on a place that size the likelihood of a moving buck accidentally walking through is exponentially higher in a HF. Just think of it like a game of Pong. During the rut, going to do a whole lot more bouncing in a smaller home range.

I'll also say that the hunter density where I hunt probably means that dang near every buck is on someone's game camera even though it's LF as far as any buck could possible travel.

All these were taken on a 60 acre lease in Nacogdoches county. Just shows you don't have to have a big place, just the right place. Got a before and after of this one... Before: After:

We use cameras to help determine the condition of our deer (low fence, 350 acres, how many deer we will harvest, which sex, etc. I often 'hunt' with a camera as well.
